Windrush Legacy

As part of London Design Week 2023, Windrush Legacy was a week long exhibition curated by Vanessa Aziza and located in Park Royal.

2023 marked the 75th year anniversary of the docking of the Windrush Ship to England and the beginning of the cultural change to shape the culture we know today.

The exhibition featured artist of Caribbean heritage highlighting the breathtaking work created by the descendants of the Windrush Generation. Stores and experiences told by members and children of the Windrush generation payed a key role in the exhibition. As we are quickly losing more and more of our older community, it was vital that some of the experiences have been recorded so future generations are reminded of the sacrifices made to provide the opportunity we have today.

The celebration night of the exhibition saw performances from the steel pan band Metronome and food from Auntie Bonnies Jerk Pit.
